Who is Batman?

In everyday life Batman is billionaire Bruce Wayne. At the age of 8, the young Bruce witnesses his parents getting killed in a street robbery. With the help of his parents' faithful butler, Alfred Penny Worth, he swears revenge. He completes an extensive training, both in subjects like physics and chemistry as well as special skills like criminology. In addition, he becomes master of various martial arts. As disguise he chooses a costume in the shape of a bat. He does not use firearms any more, although he did when fist starting out.
Batman is a sad and lonely character, caused by the violent death of his parents, he has been traumatized early. His drive is revenge. One rarely sees him smile and to protect who he is, has chosen not to have many friends.

Super personnel and equipment

Batman has no supernatural abilities. He combines his great intellectual abilities with his perfect physical training to draw superiority in his fights against evil. In his Batmobile he carries various items such as smoke bombs or rockets. His headquarters are the Batcave, where the Batmobile is perked and he has all the new communication technology.

The Batman universe

Batman lives in Gotham City. In the city, he has a mixed reputation, since he operates outside of the law. Depending on the situation, he is either savior or avenger. Nevertheless, he regularly called upon by the police in the form of Commissioner James Gordon. He does this with the Bat-signal to lure him from his cave.

Batman’s enemies and friends

Over the decades, Batman has dealt with a hugh number of villains. He often faces the Penguin, Catwoman, Two-Face, the Riddler, the Scarecrow, and Mr Freeze. In most cases these are characters that no longer have a place in the normal society or a cruel fate has come upon them and they are forced into crime.
His butler Alfred knows his real identity and is a good friend as is his sidekick Robin whose parents have been murdered too, thus bonding the two together. He becomes a big help in fighting crime. In the comic, he serves primarily as a dialogue partner. Until the appearance of Robins, it was customary for Batman to think in bubbles. Since this was sometimes difficult for readers and authors, it was decided to introduce Robin. Batman is also friends with Superman.

The History of the Comics

Batman first appeared in 1939. In issue No. 27 of "Detective Comics" He quickly became the reader’s favorite. The figure was invented by Bob Kane and then mainly developed by Bill Finger. He meets Superman in the comics in the 50’s and they appeared together with great success. Both have been fan heroes for years and still appeal.
