Who is Spider-Man?

Benjamin Peter Parker lives with his aunt and his uncle in New York. He is a loner with thick glasses, with a love for science and is very talented in that field. During the observation of a scientific experiment in a research institution, he is bitten by a radioactive spider. This gives Peter superpowers, which at first he uses to become a big TV star. In one of his appearances at the studio he refuses to stop a thief, pointing out that it is the job of the police and not of a star. Weeks later his beloved uncle Ben is murdered, Spiderman is horrified to find out that the killer is the same thief he refused to stop. He learns that with superpowers comes great responsibility. The balancing between personal needs and the high responsibility remains one of the main themes of the entire comics. Overall, the comic has an almost depressive mood, which swings as he grows with his tasks, leading to a higher self-confidence of the main character.

Super personnel and equipment

Spider-Man has superior physical abilities like stamina, reflexes and strength, he is also an extremely quick and agile mover, who is able to cling to most surfaces and has a special precognitive spider sense tuned to danger. In addition, he has very strong self-healing powers. The talented scholar Peter Parker also develops gadgets that fire webbing. The mechanical web-shooters are an important tool in hunting criminals. Over the years, Parker uses his brilliant intellectual abilities often making his gadgets better and better.

The Spiderman universe

Peter Parker lives in Forest Hills, New York. His parents died early and so he lives with his Aunt May and Uncle Ben. After the death of his uncle, his family consists only of his aunt. Mary Jane Watson is one of the loves of his life, whom he even marries. Later, the marriage and public unmasking are later erased due to a deal made with the demon Mephisto.
In normal life Peter Parker works for the Daily Bugle as a photographer. The publisher, J. Jonah Jameson, is one of the biggest critics of Spider-Man and contributes significantly to making Spider-Mans public picture difficult to say the least. Ironically, Parker provides him regularly with exclusive photos of Spider-Man. The inner struggle between Peter and Spider-Man of superhero are nowhere clearer than in these particular work situations.

Spider-Mans enemies and friends

In the course of the comic series Spider-Man needs to deal with various opponents, some of them also have super powers. Among the recurring characters the Green Goblin, Doctor Octopus and Venom are seen as his main enemies. Spider-Man friendships with other super heroes include Marvel heroes like Captain America and Iron Man, but as he was conceived as an ordinary person a lot of his friends are normal people like his aunt May and Robbie Robertson. The plot often has Peter fighting personal problems as well as super villains and if his own capacities are not sufficient, he receives support from his friends.

The History of Comics

The figure of Spider-Man was created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko. He gave his first appearance in the edition Amazing Fantasy# 15 in August 1962 and has over the years turned into one of the most important and most popular characters of the Marvel universe.
